George Ruto’s “Money Fest” matatu, a public service vehicle that recently gained attention for breaking traffic rules and bypassing mandatory inspections by the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), made a notable appearance in Eldoret and Ruto’s hometown of Sugoi.
The vehicle, famous for its unique LED lights and loud music, became the center of attention as it rolled through the streets.
The matatu’s presence drew large crowds in both Eldoret and Sugoi, with onlookers eagerly capturing videos and photos of the eye-catching vehicle.
The matatu was even spotted parked near a road sign indicating its location in Sugoi, adding to its growing popularity.

However, the vehicle’s rise to fame wasn’t without controversy.
After facing public outcry, George Ruto surrendered the “Money Fest” matatu for an inspection by the NTSA.
A video shared by VDJ Jones showed the matatu lined up at the NTSA’s Likoni Road Inspection Centre, alongside other vehicles.
In response to the situation, Brian Wanyama, the founder of Matwana Matatu culture, urged all matatu investors to comply with the rules.
Meanwhile, the driver of “Money Fest” defended George Ruto, explaining that the vehicle was purchased with a loan and accusing critics of spreading false information about its registration.
He emphasized that the matatu benefits around 100 people and argued that George should not be criticized for investing in an industry that provides employment opportunities for the youth.
