In a remarkable and heartwarming story, a 16-year-old Senior Two student from Butaleja district in Uganda has given birth to quadruplets, defying expectations and inspiring her community.
Mwajuma Nankya, a young mother with a bright future ahead of her, delivered her four babies naturally on Sunday, September 1, at Busolwe Hospital, sending waves of joy and celebration throughout the region.
Nankya’s journey to motherhood has been one of resilience and determination.
During her antenatal visits, doctors had informed her that she was carrying twins, but when the time came for delivery, she surprised everyone by giving birth to four healthy babies.
Following the delivery, Nankya was transferred to Mbale Regional Referral Hospital for further care and monitoring.
Dr. Abeso, the in-charge of the children’s ward, confirmed that all four babies are in stable condition and thriving.
However, the doctor also expressed concerns about the challenges Nankya might face once discharged, particularly regarding breastfeeding and the need for proper nutrition to support her own growth and development.
Dr. Abeso emphasized, highlighting the importance of family planning and the well-being of young mothers.
Despite the challenges ahead, Nankya remains determined to return to school and continue her education.
She understands the obstacles she may face, particularly given her humble background and the vulnerability of the children’s father, who had dropped out of school after completing primary education.
