Businessman and politician Jimi Wanjigi has raised alarm over alleged harassment at his Muthaiga residence, claiming that unmarked vehicles equipped with signal jammers have been parked outside his home for a week.
Wanjigi took to social media to express his concerns, stating,
This situation comes on the heels of a recent High Court ruling that barred police from accessing Wanjigi’s home following a dramatic raid in August.
The court’s decision was made after Wanjigi sought legal protection against what he described as police intimidation.
He has been embroiled in legal battles, including a case related to the ‘Nane Nane’ protests in Nairobi, where he was accused of being involved in activities that led to police seizing tear gas canisters and other items from a vehicle allegedly associated with him.
The police had previously ordered Wanjigi to present himself for questioning regarding the vehicle, which he vehemently denies owning.
He claims this is part of a broader political witch-hunt against him, stating,
In light of these developments, Wanjigi’s family has also spoken out, describing the police’s actions as excessive and unwarranted.
Additionally, they recounted an incident where police officers allegedly conducted multiple searches of their home without a warrant, leading to a tense and frightening experience for the family.
As Wanjigi continues to navigate these challenges, the community’s response has been mixed, with some supporting his claims of harassment and others questioning the motives behind his allegations.
