President William Ruto recently addressed concerns regarding early political campaigns, indirectly criticizing his Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua during a church service in Nyeri County on September 15.
Ruto emphasized the importance of focusing on governance rather than prematurely gearing up for the 2027 elections. He stated,
urging leaders to prioritize their commitments to the electorate over campaign strategies.
Criticism of Early Campaigning
Ruto’s remarks come amidst growing tensions within his administration, particularly concerning Gachagua’s alleged involvement in early campaign activities.
The President highlighted that leaders should first deliver on their promises before considering reelection efforts, asserting that effective governance should take precedence over political ambitions. he stated,
Adding to the political discourse, National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah publicly urged Ruto to distance himself from Gachagua, whom he referred to as a “snake” in the government.
Speaking at a church service in Embakasi West, Ichung’wah expressed concerns that certain officials were hindering Ruto’s development agenda.
He implored the President to “shake off the snake” from his administration before it adversely affects his leadership and promises.
