A tragic incident has unfolded at Mihango Primary ECDE Centre in Utawala, Embakasi, where a five-year-old girl was found dead in a school dustbin.
The child’s mother, Hellen Atunga, shared her heart-wrenching experience in an exclusive interview with TUKO news, detailing the events that led to this devastating loss.
The Incident
On Friday, September 27, Atunga dropped her twins off at school, expecting a normal day. However, she received a distressing call from the school later that afternoon regarding one of her children.
Atunga recounted, visibly shaken by the news of her daughter’s death.
Cause of Death
A postmortem examination revealed that the young girl died due to food blocking her airways, a condition exacerbated by compression.
Atunga expressed her frustration and confusion over how such a tragic event could occur at school:
This lack of clarity has left the family seeking answers from the school’s administration.
Family’s Plea for Justice
Atunga described her daughter as “always so jovial, loving, and protective of her twin sister,” emphasizing the profound loss felt by the family.
They are demanding more transparency regarding the circumstances surrounding their daughter’s death and have expressed dissatisfaction with the school’s response thus far.
The administration at Mihango Primary ECDE Centre has confirmed that an investigation is underway but has not provided further comments on the situation.
Meanwhile, police from Kayole have assured the grieving family that a thorough investigation will be conducted to uncover the truth behind this tragic incident.
