Meta’s move to introduce monetization features in Kenya is hailed as transformative by the National Assembly’s Majority Leader, Kimani Ichung’wah.
He believes this will create significant employment opportunities for the country’s creative youth.
This initiative, referred to as the “Finya Computer Pata Dollar” era, aligns with President William Ruto’s push for digital jobs for the youth.
Kenya now joins South Africa, Egypt, Nigeria, and Ghana in monetizing Facebook.
Ruto’s campaign to bring this feature to Kenya began in 2023.
His efforts have paid off, offering Kenyan content creators a lucrative way to earn from their online activities.
To qualify, creators must be 18 or older, have at least 5,000 followers, and share original content.
Meta’s introduction of in-stream ads and ads on Reels will help creators earn money from their videos.
This milestone is not just a financial opportunity but also a significant empowerment for Kenyan youth.
With the ability to monetize their content, young creators can turn their passion into a profession, contributing to the nation’s economy and fostering innovation.
