Aoko was taken from her home by police and brought to the DCI for questioning.
According to her lawyer, several complaints had been lodged with the police regarding her posts, though details were not provided.
Initially, lawyer Cliff Ombeta claimed that Aoko had been denied access to legal counsel, but later confirmed that police had allowed another lawyer to speak with her.

Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino also commented on the situation, saying that Aoko was being held at Muthaiga Police Station ahead of her court appearance.

Police stated that Aoko would face charges in court, following what they described as a valid complaint.
