On Thursday morning, matatu operators blocked sections of Ngong Road in Nairobi.
They were protesting alleged harassment by the police.
The operators honked their horns and disrupted traffic to draw attention from the authorities.
They claimed police had been harassing and extorting them to allow them to operate.
The group demanded action from authorities to stop the alleged mistreatment.
Some protesters gathered at Dagoretti Corner near the Junction Mall, while others camped at Prestige.
Kilimani police boss Ben Kobia addressed the protesters.
He said the operators peacefully dispersed after raising their concerns.
Kobia promised that the authorities would look into the matter and take necessary action.
The protest lasted for hours, disrupting traffic along Ngong Road.
The operators claimed that traffic police regularly harass drivers along the route and demand bribes.
The police, however, denied these accusations.
Kobia asked anyone with evidence of the alleged harassment to report it to the authorities for action.
