In a recent letter to Chairman Jim Jordan and the House Judiciary Committee, Mark Zuckerberg admitted his regrets working with Biden-Kamala administration.
Mark Zuckerberg who is the CEO of META formerly known as (Facebook and Instagram) expressed his regrets on censoring some information including satire on the Covid-19 content.
Mark Zuckerberg disclosed that he felt pressured by the U.S. government and chose not to resist, as officials expressed frustration with his team when they disagreed.
He stated that senior officials from the Biden Administration consistently urged Meta to censor specific COVID-19 content, including humor and satire, for several months.
Zuckerberg admitted that the ultimate decision to remove content rested with Meta, but he regretted succumbing to the pressure, believing it was wrong and expressing a desire to be more vocal about it in the future.
He also wrote of the FBI warning them about a potential disinformation from Russia about Biden’s Family and Burisma in the lead 2020 elections.
This happened when they saw a story from New York post about corruption allegations on the Democratic nominee Joe Biden.
META had to send it to fact checkers and temporarily demoted the story as they waited for the reply. Zuckerberg acknowledged that it has since become clear that the reporting was not disinformation, and he believes they should not have demoted the story in the first place
He acknowledged that the approach taken by Meta, in response to the administration’s requests, may have been too accommodating and did not adequately protect the platform’s commitment to free expression.
Mark Zuckerberg also tells the Judiciary Committee that he won’t spend money this election cycle. He also revealed to have changed their policies and that they no longer temporarily demote things waiting for fact checkers.
