Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti has firmly denied accusations that she and her son were arrested in the United Kingdom over money laundering.
Speaking to Machakos County MCAs, Ndeti called the allegations “cowardly” and challenged anyone with proof to come forward.
Refuting the Allegations
Governor Ndeti called the claims “malicious and fake news” and said they stem from a smear campaign by her political opponents.
She also warned that anyone spreading these false rumors would face legal consequences.
Ndeti stressed that such misinformation threatens her family’s safety.
Community Support
Local MCAs rallied behind Ndeti. Majority Leader Nicholas Nzioka and Deputy Speaker Stephen Mwanthi condemned the allegations as personal attacks and political maneuvering.
They emphasized that the claims were unfounded and a serious mockery of the truth.
County Secretary Muya Ndambuki called for an investigation into the origins and motives behind the allegations. He stressed the need for accountability and transparency.
Commitment to Transparency
Despite the allegations, Governor Ndeti remains committed to transparent governance. Her administration has focused on nearly 1,000 projects since August 2022.
Additionally, she reported a record revenue collection of Sh1.7 billion for the Financial Year 2023/24, the highest since devolution began.
Ndeti emphasized her dedication to improving Machakos.
