Gerald Mwangi, a renowned conductor for Super Metro, has tragically passed away at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) following severe injuries from a road accident.
Mwangi, affectionately known as “Makanga Bae,” succumbed to complications on the evening of October 10, 2024, after battling critical health issues for nearly a week.
Mwangi suffered critical injuries in a serious accident at the ABC roundabout along Waiyaki Way in Nairobi. Sources revealed that he faced multiple organ failure shortly after doctors amputated one of his legs due to insufficient blood flow.
David Maina, an official from Super Metro Sacco, explained the severity of Mwangi’s condition:
Before his untimely demise, an urgent appeal for blood donations went out to aid in his recovery. His employer disclosed that he needed B positive blood and provided contact information for potential donors.
Mwangi had endeared himself to passengers with his charm and professionalism. Fondly referred to as “Mwas,” he took on the conductor role due to financial constraints after graduating from university.
Mwangi’s passing marks a significant loss for the Super Metro community. He is the second crew member from the Sacco to die this year due to road accidents.
Earlier in January, Naomi Mwangi, who worked on long-distance routes, lost her life in a tragic crash that claimed multiple victims. Maina reflected on this loss: “Plans for send-off were already underway.”
