Former Chief Justice Willy Mutunga is mourning the loss of his son, Athman Mutunga, who passed away at the age of 50 while undergoing treatment at Coptic Hospital in Nairobi.
His death occurred on Saturday, October 12, 2024, following a series of surgeries over the past two months. Athman was laid to rest on Sunday, October 13, in Kitui County, in accordance with Muslim burial rites.
Chief Justice Martha Koome expressed her condolences to the Mutunga family, stating,
